Liviu Voinea has been Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Romania and executive member of the Board of the National Bank since October 2014. He coordinates the departments of financial stability, bank resolution, economic forecasting, and international relations; he is also Vice President of the Monetary Policy Committee. Voinea is a permanent member of the ESRB (European Systemic Risk Board) General Board and a member of the EFC (Economic and Financial Committee) of the European Union. Prior to his current position, Voinea was Minister Delegate for Budget (member of government), responsible for budget and public debt. In that capacity he was Romania's Governor to the World Bank Group, Romania's chief negotiator with the IMF, and he represented Romania to the ECOFIN Council.
Liviu Voinea has a Master of Science degree in Business Administration from School of Business, Stockholm University and a Ph.D. in economics from Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest. He was previously Associate Professor at the National School for Political and Administrative Studies and full professor of macroeconomics and international economics at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest.
