The Graduate School will host its campus-wide New Graduate Student Orientation on Monday, August 20, 2018, at 10:00 a.m.—12:00 noon, in the Grand and Colony Ballrooms of the Stamp Student Union. The orientation will be followed by lunch from 12:00 Noon—1:00 p.m. in Stamp Student Union for new graduate students who attend the orientation.

There will also be an orientation for the spouses and partners of new doctoral students. The Spouses and Partners of New Doctoral Students (#SPARTNERS) Orientation will be held from 10:30 am-12 noon on Monday, August 20 in the Prince George's Room of the Stamp Student Union. What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

From August 18th through the first day of class, people can park on campus for free in any of the following numbered lots (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,9,11,16). For more parking information please go here: http://transportation.umd.edu/. Please note, The Graduate School is not responsible for any parking tickets that could occur if DOTS rules are not folllowed. Please contact DOTS if you have any questions.

Do I need to bring my ticket from Event Brite to enter the event?

No. Please do not bring any tickets or anything. Graduate School staff will greet you at the entrances of the Grand and Colony Ballrooms in Stamp.

What should I bring to orientation?

We recommend that you bring a note pad and pen if you would like to write down some of the important information that will be covered. Attendees might also want to bring a water bottle. There are many locations around Stamp to fill up your water bottle with filtered water for free.

What should I do if I can no longer attend the orientation?

We are sorry to hear that you are no longer able to attend orientation. A recording of orientation will be available after the event on the Graduate School's YouTube channel. Please email Amanda Straussser at [email protected] if you are no longer able to attend. It is important for us to know who is attending orientation so we are sure to have enough food for lunch.

Is it ok if I cannot stay for the entire orientation?

Yes. But, please sit around the perimeter of the room so you can quietly leave the room. A recording of orientation will be available after the event on the Graduate School's YouTube channel. Please review that after the event to get the rest of the information that you might have missed.
